DAY 22

The trip to Xing Hai Square had to be postponed yet again. To compensate, Anglia had something different than the usual lunch of fried rice. There was a spread of dishes and one turned out to be surprisingly Western; the calamari rings or rather, fried squid.

It wasn’t particularly delectable but my tongue was grateful for the nostalgic change in taste. One should wonder why it is so hard to get Western (or non-Chinese and non-Korean) food here.

Before heading back to the dorm, two friends decided to visit the hairdresser (which curiously only had male hairdressers but female customers). For 10 RMB your hair gets washed and cut. In Singapore that same service would easily amount to $20. Only populous countries can have such price advantage.
