DAY 1

To you who is reading this, hello! This is Anglia who left Singapore for Dalian today. Before leaving the house, butterflies filled my stomach; obviously a sign of uneasiness about leaving home for 2 months. The butterflies increased in number upon seeing a crowd of fellow Dalian-goers at the airport. They were with families and friends (as was I), saying goodbye, take care and such. Too much was going on and the brain was not able to register them all. In a heartbeat I suddenly found myself boarding the plane already. Dalian here I come!

Didn’t get to do much on the plane because I was tired from the sleepless night before. After hours of sleeping (and interacting in between), yours truly finally set foot on Dalian, China. Too much excitement about the cold air made me oblivious to the soaking wet weather outside the airport. What a bitter greeting it was.

The dampened mood was washed away by the sight of our dorm room in Dalian Polytechnic University (DPU). Fantasies beyond my expectation. Couldn’t help but hyperactively jump around for a while with my roommate, Jamie. The night was spent trying to dry off myself, adjusting to the weather, unpacking what little luggage I had and digesting the fact that I am now in the cold-but-fortunately-new dorm room of DPU, Dalian, China, 2816 miles away from home. After a whole day of being at 3 different airports, planes and cities, one is entitled to be a little tired and muddle-brained.
